Source of rudraksha has been found in hindu mythology. From ancient times when Hindu holy books were written in sanskrit, there are descriptions about the utpati/origin/source of rudraksha. Source of rudraksha points to Lord Shiva.The brick red color of dried fruits of the rudraksha tree (Elaeocarpus Ganitrus Roxb) has played an predominant role on the Indian stage for a long time now. Rudra (terrible) aksha (eyes), connotes name of the impact of seed on the evil and its escorts. According to Hindu mythology, Shiva used the fire arms, called Aaghor to kill Tripura Sur, the troublesome demon. The weapon killed the demon, but provisionally blinded Shiva also, who had to close our eyes in order to escape its dazzling brilliance. When Shiva opened his eyes, they were watery. Places on earth where the drops fell sprouted rudraksha tree.

It is proven beyond doubt that rudraksha cure many diseases, including those on blood pressure and heart. So powerful is rudraksha protective powers that it can actually protect the wearer from untimely death. Ancient sages claim that rudraksha gives peace of mind.
