How to Read a Gemstone Lab Report Before You Buy
A laboratory report is most useful when you read it alongside the exact product listing. Its role is to state the findings and descriptions within the issuing laboratory's scope. It is not a substitute for comparing the actual product, delivery terms and the rest of the listing.
Identify the report and issuer
Start with the report number, issuing laboratory and report date. Keep a legible copy with the invoice. If the issuer provides a verification method, use it according to that issuer's instructions. The product certificate verification guide shows how the document fits into the order record.
Compare product description and measurements
Match the species or variety stated on the report, carat weight, dimensions, cut or shape where listed, and any identifying details to the product page. Read origin and treatment statements carefully

Match the report to the stone you receive
Compare the declared measurements, item photographs and the received stone in normal, neutral light. Image colour can differ by display and lighting, so see the photography and colour guide.
