Original ek mukhi rudraksha

Hi All,

There are two main types of Ek Mukhi Rudraksha: round and half-moon shaped (Chandrakar). I understand that the round 1 Mukhi is the original one, as described in Shiva Purana. I would like guidance on which Rudraksha is considered the most powerful and the best bead to wear when recommended.

In Shiva Purana, the 1 Mukhi (Ek Mukhi) Rudraksha is described as significant in spiritual tradition:
- The round “gole dana” 1 Mukhi Rudraksha is smaller and rarer.
- Its rarity contributes to higher cost.

-- Note: Neutralized claims of absolute “most powerful” effect; presented as traditional description.

And yes Swapna, in this discussion we are referring specifically to Nepali Rudraksha beads. The original Ek Mukhi Rudraksha from Indonesia has some differences in characteristics, which can be discussed in a separate topic if needed.

"One Mukhi bead is considered the rarest of all and is believed to embody Lord Shiva Himself."

The Rudraksha tree does not produce round one Mukhi beads every year—these may appear only once in a thousand years. Due to deforestation and the rarity of mature trees, the number of round Ek Mukhi beads reaching the market is very limited.

If you find a source offering a round 1 Mukhi bead, it is crucial to verify authenticity before purchase. Most commercially available beads are shaped (Chandrakar) 1 Mukhi beads. Exercise caution while buying round Ek Mukhi beads commercially.

The original round Ek Mukhi Rudraksha is extremely rare.

Although people may encounter other types of beads, finding a genuine round Ek Mukhi Rudraksha is largely a matter of chance.

A few authentic round Ek Mukhi beads are reportedly preserved in the Pashupati temple of Nepal.

During my recent visit to Haridwar, I inquired about 1 Mukhi round Rudraksha. Some sellers quoted prices around ?80,000–?90,000. After consulting with Rashmiji, I realized these were likely fake.

I also found similar beads being sold in Bangalore at comparable prices, suggesting caution is needed.
