Smoky Quartz Pyramid

Smoky brown colour gives this quartz carving a deeper visual tone. One carved pyramid.
Call for pricing

Smoky quartz ranges visually from faint smoky tones to deep brown. A thick centre often looks darker than the thinner edges of a pyramid. Ask for a neutral daylight photograph rather than relying on a strongly backlit image. A dark carving may still contain transparent areas, while a uniformly opaque piece needs a more careful material explanation.

Choosing this material or design

Smoky colour in quartz can arise through natural irradiation processes, and irradiation can also be applied commercially. The finished colour alone cannot reliably tell a buyer which history applies. Natural quartz is therefore not the same statement as natural colour. Ask the supplier to distinguish those claims and to avoid saying untreated when the treatment history is simply unknown.

Care before display

Dust shows readily on a dark polished surface. Remove loose grit before wiping so it does not drag across the face. Use a soft cloth, modest moisture if appropriate and thorough drying. Avoid hot water, strong sunlight as a cleansing method, steam and sudden temperature changes. If the material has coatings or repairs, follow the particular supplier instructions rather than a generic quartz routine.

Buying questions

Does very dark smoky quartz have more power? Colour depth is not a demonstrated measure of such an effect. Can a seller guarantee natural colour from a picture? No. Is a lighter edge a defect? It can simply result from less material in the light path. Ask about the actual rough and treatments rather than inferring identity from darkness.
